Workshop - Planning and productivity tools for freelancers

As a freelancer in a creative field, you have to function like a one-person agency where you run the whole show: scoping new clients, making your craft, completing orders, posting on social media… an endless list of things to keep track of. However, we are only human and being on top of all of your to-do’s without the help of another pair of eyes can be a struggle. Don’t overthink it. A perfect system is the one that empowers you to work through your projects, keeps your motivation high and is sustainable long term. There is not one that works for everyone, so during this class you will learn some tools and tips to build your routine around what works for YOU.

This workshop would interest you if:

  • Your freelancing journey has just begun and you find it difficult to stick to a routine and/ or organize your time.

  • You are already freelancing but need a better strategy to meet your deadlines. You end up spending too much time on mundane tasks and a lack of organization is getting in the way to get more stuff done.

  • You are a student or you are building your portfolio. You don’t have a reference of how agencies work and would like to learn a bit about scheduling.

  • You are a veteran. You manage your projects like a pro but want to learn more about digital tools and find new ideas.

What we’ll be covering:

  • A simple exercise to develop a system with your areas of work and goals

  • The importance of monthly and yearly overviews combined with your vision

  • An overview of techniques such as Kanban, Pomodoro, Bullet Journaling and Time Blocking

  • Weekly scheduling on a Notion planner as example

  • Examples of digital tools and apps like Notion, Google Calendar, Toggl, and more

  • Lastly, some personal tips and mistakes to avoid so you can stick to the plan and learn to self-regulate

Keep in mind, we will cover a realistic approach, from a freelancer to others. No productivity gurus, nor unfeasible 4AM to 8PM routines will be covered!

A note from Marina: As a gift for attending this class, you will receive a Notion weekly planner so you can try the method that I follow to schedule my week. Use it as a starting point and adapt it to your system.

Where: This online workshop will run on Zoom on Tuesday 18th April 2023. It will last 1 hour and 30 minutes. The workshop will be recorded so you will be able to access it later on too. You will receive a private link two days after the live workshop has happened.

Good to know: You’ll be able to ask questions during the workshop, through the chat or directly via video. Mimi’s workshops are meant to be lovely, lively events where you to feel at ease and participate if you want to.
